Rochester Help to New Orleans = RH2NO
Since the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Katrina, many members of the Rochester community have left the comforts of their homes to enter unfamiliar territory. They have shared their hearts and hard work, embodying the opportunity to take up a way of life that reflects abundant life in and for the world. Traveling away from home, communing with the "saints" of New Orleans, they have returned with transformed hearts.
If you have made this pilgrimage yourself, tell others. If you haven't and feel a tugging at your heart - if you want to support the effort to engage the wider Rochester community in rebuilding New Orleans, contact Sally Altobello.
RH2NO's mission is to recruit volunteers of all skill levels from the Rochester, New York area to engage in the rehabilitation of New Orleans. This outreach effort provides a project director that facilitates, plans and recruits religious and secular volunteer groups to participate in the rebuilding efforts of the Crescent City.
"Many folks of different backgrounds, experience, education, income level, serving together. Reflecting back on this is moving and yes, humbling. It helps me to keep living 'proper sized'".
